Afrobeat legend's children remember him 19 years after

On August 2, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist and political maverick, Fela Kuti passed on.

Forever etched in our hearts, his children took to social media in remembrance of their late dad. His daughter, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, took to her Instagram page writing, "Nineteen years ago our Icon father, leader and father of the Nation left the world stage. He lives in us forever and continues to guide and protect us. That is why Nigeria didn’t go to war against all predictions. Rest in peace Fela. We miss you."

"The powers that be, beat him mercilessly. Fela they can't touch you now o!!!! Useless people," she wrote alongside a picture of him in bandages.

Her elder brother Femi Kuti also took to Instagram today sharing, "19 years since the passing of our father FELA we LOVE U WE MISS U VERY MUCH."
