AAUA ASUU BEGINS INDEFINITE STRIKE

The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) Adekunle Ajasin University AkungbaAkoko Chapter has resolved to embark on anindefinite strike starting from today.In a congress resolution report sent to allmembers by the Chairperson Dr Sola Fayoseinforming them of the approval by the nationalon its request to allow members withdraw theirservices following three months of outstandingsalaries and non remittance of deductions forseven monthsSee full statement below :Congress Resolution:Non Payment of Salaries/Deductions andWithdrawal of Service.Following past engagements on the issues ofsalary and deduction payments, particularlythe resolutions of the Congress meeting of15th June, 2016, conveying the displeasure ofour members on the issues of salary anddeduction payments, the Congress of ASUU-AAUA met today, 4th July, 2016, to getfeedbacks on the consultations the branchinitiated with the national on its request toallow members withdraw their servicesfollowing three months outstanding salariesand non-remittance of deductions for sevenmonths.Congress was informed of the approval ofnational to allow members of ASUU-AAUAwithdraw their services until all outstandingsalaries (3 months) and deductions (7months) are FULLY paid.ALL MEMBERS ARE,THEREFORE, DIRECTED TO WITHDRAW THEIRSERVICES WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. Thiswithdrawal affects all formal engagements/activities.Having waited in vain these past months tosee a positive turning around, we are left withno other choice than this last resort, as ourmembers have been systematically,financially, psychologically and morallydisempowered.It is hoped that these issues would be resolvedsoon to allow us effectively resume theperformance of our services to the University.Yours in the struggle,
